Machine, Ian, Deja are beautiful sparkling embodiements of glam. My god!

Our next Dr. Sketchy's is this Saturday, with the gasping lad and pink tonged lass in the picture below. If you've experienced them before- you know that you MUST reserve.

I read her extraordinarily smart and brave interview with $pread some months ago, and learned that she was facing a huge jail sentence. It's obvious she was railroaded into committing suicide.

Meanwhile, swine like Vitter, who used her agencies services while causing misery to sex workers around the world, get off scott free.

Horrifying.

Nearly as horrifying is reading the comments. It makes it clear that, if you work in the sex industry, it doesn't matter if you die to most people- even supposedly educated, liberal ones.

This punched me in the gut.

Trying to Decide [Apr. 22nd, 2008|05:53 pm]
So, I'm going to Europe in August (partly for Dr. Sketchy's, partly for work-excused wanderlust), and I need to get burlesque/modelling/art/Dr. Sketchy's/lecture/whatever bookings to help pay for the damn overpriced tickets.
I'll definitly be in Glasgow, London and Helsinki, and am trying to choose a fourth city

Comment if you live in one of the following cities and would be interested in either hiring me or coming to one of my events.

A. Berlin
or
B. Rome

Look forward to hearing from you!

See the entire Backstage archives at http://www.mollycrabapple.com/backstage . Thanks to Mekenzie, they have all sorts of new functionality and spiffiness.

Also check the quotes from two of my favorite writers, which leave me so honored I could faint.

BACKSTAGE is dazzling retro-fetish. Just enough histro-smut, transgressive comedy, and wacky badgirlism to make you wish there were MacArthur Genius Awards for Sultry Artist/Writer Duos Kicking through the Web. Manhattan never looked more deadly.

- Mel Gordon. Author of Voluptuous Panic: The Erotic World of Weimar Berlin

Molly Crabapple is an American Renaissance woman. In a market that increasingly demands simplicity, she delivers the opposite, juxtaposing a candy shoppe visual aesthetic of sweetness (all pinks and curlicues) with a harsh tale of the sordid underbelly, justifying the title "Backstage"...the truth behind the beauty.
