This week....

1. My 5-person show opens at Ad Hoc this Friday. My hands are still cut up and paint smeared from framing it. You can see the pieces I'm showing here, and read the Bust.com writeup of it.

2. This Saturday, the gorgeous Akynos is posing in NYC for Dr. Sketchy's. Akynos looks like a COOP drawing come to life, and is more beautiful than most of us deserve. It's also her birthday. I recommend getting a drawing

3. But in San Diego, where I will be, in the flourescent geek-maw of Comic-Con, we're also doing a Dr. Sketchy's, with the Gallery Girls no less. You should come.

I'm totally honored to be showing my Box portraits at Ad Hoc Art in Bushwick. The show, Five Identities, Five Destinations, features five female artists- including the wonderful Lizz Lopez and Jenn Porrecca.

I won't actually be at the opening (cause of Nerd Prom in San Diego), but I will be at the VIP Preview on Thursday.

We shot five hours of Dr. Sketchy's documentary yesterday, and the absinthe sketchy's the day before.

Today, Revelin is shooting some series on New Yorkers.

I'm beat.

Would I lose my crumb of serious artist cred if I was shot for the series wearing what I actually paint in? Ie- pj's and pigtails?

For the first time ever, I have my own wee table at Comic-Con, in the depraved X-Sanguin booth. I'm sharing space with legendary gig artists R. Black, Brian Ewing, and Bawidaminn. During the 19th century, absinthe was the muse of artists- the fuel of cancan halls- the drink of Paris and New Orleans. But, for much of the 20th century, absinthe has been banned in the US.

Until now. To celebrate the recent legalization of the Green Fairy, Le Tourment Vert and Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School present a life-drawing tribute to all things absinthe.

Artists will draw internationally renowned model Delirium Tremens in a sumptuous Moulin Rouge inspired set, and compete for prizes and surprises from le Tourment Vert.

Absolutely badass Dr. Sketchy's today. Some sessions just kind of click between theme and crew, crowd and model, and the resulting warm-fuzziness is just a joy to experience. Fem Appeal always clicks.

In Edinburgh this summer, I'm performing in a continuous vaudeville show. They satanic emcee will steal two folks from the audience and I (in artist drag) will paint them while other acts perform. After a few acts do their thing, they'll release the rubes and I'll show the painting. Which may or may not be donkey fucking.

Started playing with artists drag.

And I decided that what you need to succeed in the highly competitive art field is a mustache.

My favorite event producer Shien Lee is at it again, with a decadent, glamorous tribute to 20's Shanghei!

If you have been to Shien Lee's Dances of Vice events before, you know that, without exageration, they're among the best in New York. Come for the fabulously creative entertainment, the beautifully dressed crowds, on the co-mingling of so many different artists honing their skills in collaberation.

I'll be doing live, vintage-style caricatures of attendees.

+ Yesterday the Dr. Sketchy's crew took over the Mermaid Parade. We were dressed as art monkeys, and generally jumped around, drew, waved banners and checked out the fabulousness on the altogether perfect day. Afterwords, me, Hilary and Mike dodged band aids in the Atlantic Ocean.

+ Then, I hauled my tired carcass to Randalls Island. The Box was running entertainment for this year's Bloomberg Company picnic, and I got to design a giant theatre curtain. Seeing my work 30 feet high was dizzying- more like a dream sequence than anything I ever expected to happen in real life. Pictures soon!
